summer fruits

Something very classical today ... I never paint still life , because they never really interest me. Except for some times bottles and pots ! I can't even  remember when I painted the last time fruits ( maybe even NEVER ...) But my theory normally is : It doesn't matter WHAT you paint... It is about the act of painting itself and about the colours. .. So why not a bowl of fruits ? Because there are already THOUSANDS  existing ? But everything else has also been painting for thousands of times....

 I remember when I studied , once of the saying I heard a lot was : " You can't paint anymore... painting is passe " But now painting is back to being 'fashionable' .... So why not painting some fruits ? But just for today :)

There are days, where I have NOOOO idea what to paint or draw... And then , the coincidence is helping ... It shows though, that the theme really is not that important ! It does not matter WHAT you paint or draw, as long it inspires you ....

Letting go

Seamstress

On the Seamstress ( I really would  prefer to call it 'Näherin'... as the word seamstress is very new to me...)

 I did a bit of experimenting today with glue and coffee. At the beginning of the painting, I just used glue. When it was dry I used the coffee, and the coffee colour just stayed strong where there was no glue. It gave it already a 'printed' feel... that I reinforced with the simple colours at the end. WAS FUN TO DO  ..... I like experiments :)

Still working in smaller size. The first big painting after such a long time just needs time ! 

I also need time to loosen up, and that works best on smaller work ! Here I worked with instant coffee ( normally the one to make my Greek Frappe )  that I added directly onto the paper , so it got really sticky and dark in colour..... with other words : this painting also smells nice :)

The first half day in my new studio .... and not really knowing where to start, so I just continued to work on small ones , until a theme will appear.

 I also  have to start to  think about exhibiting this year and about a new theme. One idea was poems or maybe myths... time will show !
