Time for some experimenting ... and some old techniques! It is always inspiring to start something new (new technique, new sketchbook, new pens or pencils) and it is also always comforting to use an old way of working. So today I did both at the same time. Experimenting with my printer (it must be somehow more useful in my paintings...) and worked in one of my old favourite techniques: Water colour.... and : Liked it :)
When I haven't painted or drawn for a while, the start is always a little tricky, starting with the 'famous question' WHAT to paint or draw. When you are in the flow of drawing or painting, things move naturally, in my case mostly with a theme (Red Riding Hood for example) .... But after a long break, it seems even strange to think about the 'WHAT'
It seems, that I like to restart the process with a small sketch, and then bigger drawings... and moving slowly to painting. And it seems I always go back to old themes and inspirations, like the Greek Mythology. Once I am back to 'real painting' I like to start to paint bottles or faces.... The theme then seems to be of no importance, but more to be understood as a 'warm up' and a remembering how to hold that brush :)Michele Meisterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03654656284201039878noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8951055712960662592.post-68815941862661909882015-06-11T22:50:00.000+10:002015-06-11T22:50:25.854+10:00Under the blue line

I know it is totally different from what I am painting normally, though I always have water colour close to me, as I often start my paintings with watercolour. This work is abstract because I painted it mainly for a fabric competition…. and I would so love to have those colours on a beautiful silk ….. and YES it IS even a pattern repeat ... But at the end, I submitted another one :)

Michele Meisterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03654656284201039878noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8951055712960662592.post-66964622798231282292014-08-14T14:22:00.003+10:002014-08-14T14:22:56.227+10:00Portrait

I missed it terribly and as always: the restarting is never THAT easy …. I have been working a little bit in my sketchbook, started to have few papers ready for when 'the time is ready' :)

To get back into creative work, I find it always easiest when I start something totally new. Some times just a new pencil or a different medium can do the trick, but after such a long break, I wanted to do something VERY different, so I started to do some research regarding textile design and the important pattern repeat… Very addictive subject I must say and full of surprises ! Loving it …. Here my first design:
