The Sisters

Sisters   Mixed media in sketchbook

After not painting for so many months, it is a bit difficult to get back into it ! Also because the time seems so short and precious and I think " It needs to be good, there is no time to waste here" and this sort of thinking is the worse for a painting.  In those cases the best for me to do is to work in my little sketchbook, where I can't even take the painting out, because I am working on both pages . Meaning that I just paint for the sake of painting. It is small, so it's also 'not too serious' .... I never seem to take my smaller works really serious, I think,  I still believe in " as bigger the painting as betterit is " How stupid really, as some of my best paintings I believe are small !!!
Also I chose an old theme of mine, that I haven't explored a lot yet ..... The sisters ! There is more to come there....

The problem after a 3 weeks break, is to restart work ! I want to paint but I am just really lost about the idea flow... I did some drawings about Red Riding Hood, but somehow it is just not happening. Maybe I need a break from her :)
So today again, just sketches and one card !

Letting go

Seamstress
Mixed media ( glue, coffee, acrylic and collage on paper.) 29x41cm.
On the Seamstress ( I really would  prefer to call it 'Näherin'... as the word seamstress is very new to me...)
I did a bit of experimenting today with glue and coffee. At the beginning of the painting, I just used glue. When it was dry I used the coffee, and the coffee colour just stayed strong where there was no glue. It gave it already a 'printed' feel... that I reinforced with the simple colours at the end. WAS FUN TO DO  ..... I like experiments :)

Yesterday's work. Trying to go a bit away of the light brown collage colour....

Healer

Healer 2  Mixed media on paper 21x29cm.

Still working in smaller size. The first big painting after such a long time just needs time !
I also need time to loosen up, and that works best on smaller work ! Here I worked with instant coffee ( normally the one to make my Greek Frappe )  that I added directly onto the paper , so it got really sticky and dark in colour..... with other words : this painting also smells nice :)

Back to the studio...

Today , after 3 weeks of school holidays, finally back to the studio !
It is always such a great feeling to enter back into the studio.... and on the same time, always as overwhelming ! Where to start ... what to paint or draw ! Not waiting for 'the inspiration' but just starting to work and the inspiration and the ideas might come ( or not...)
So today, just a light start....
Enough.21x29cm. mixed media on paper.
Without really knowing where it is going....
