The Mask

The Mask - 22x29 cm Mixed media (print, ink and water colour) on paper
Time for some experimenting ... and some old techniques!  It is always inspiring to start something new (new technique, new sketchbook, new pens or pencils) and it is also always comforting to use an old way of working. So today I did both at the same time. Experimenting with my printer (it must be somehow more useful in my paintings...) and worked in one of my old favourite techniques: Water colour.... and :  Liked it :)

Goat

Today a different sort of portrait.... I have always been fascinated by goats, maybe because they remind me so much of Greece (and the donkey of course !).
When I saw those beautiful goat portraits from Kevin Horan, I got inspired to do some painting! It had been a while again....

Black Thoughts

Black Thoughts   Mixed media and collage on paper   29x41cm

My first painting after such a long time... and probably also the last one before the semesters starts again :)
It is a bit different than my work usually I think, maybe because of my 'shade and shadow studies for interiors' Also I think I enjoyed to paint/draw it slowly without rush and the shading was more or less a meditative exercise !

The Starman (Juri Gagarin)

Starman  Mixed media and collage on old paper 25x25cm.

Something a little bit different today..... A painting inspired by an article I read about Juri Gagarin, the first man who really saw the stars !

There are so many courageous people out there to be admired, and I don't mean just the big courageous things like Juri did....

Bla bla bla

Bla bla bla   Mixed media and collage in sketchbook
What I really like about sketchbooks is, that there is no fear.... the act of drawing or painting is more a playing than a planing..... The result is then often so different than expected with new ideas coming up while playing !

Dreaming Time

Dreaming Time   Mixed media and collage in sketchbook
I have worked the last couple of days in my sketchbook, but I am not really in the rhythm to paint, to write, to post ...... The internet makes a lot of things easier.... but on the same time makes also a lot of work ! I don't know how a lot of you do it ....
Sometimes I have the impression that the action around the painting ( taking a photo, resizing etc etc etc...) is more work than the actual painting :))

Anyway, this painting is about  what I do at night :) I go and visit my old life !

Element Fire

Element Fire   Mixed media and collage on old paper   29x43cm.

One more painting from last week, and I am aware now, that I will also have to paint element earth and element air now :) It seems after a long time not painting I find it easiest just to paint faces ... before a theme really evolves. But the coming week I will concentrate on my sketchbooks again to loosen up a bit ! I don't like when my paintings become stiff and somehow dead. The best medicine for that is to work with collages in my case or trying to "fill up a sketchbook the day" ;-)
Also I gave a little interview at Red Bubble the other day if you are interested. Amazing how few things get clear when you write about them ...
