Pattern Repeat...

It has been such a long time for me to write here and even a longer time since I have painted!
I missed it terribly and as always: the restarting is never THAT easy …. I have been working a little bit in   my sketchbook, started to have few papers ready for when 'the time is ready' :)

To get back into creative work, I find it always easiest when I start something totally new. Some times just a new pencil or a different medium can do the trick, but after such a long break, I wanted to do something VERY different, so I started to do some research regarding textile design and the important pattern repeat… Very addictive subject I must say and full of surprises ! Loving it …. Here my first design:

My first painting after such a long time... and probably also the last one before the semesters starts again :) 

It is a bit different than my work usually I think, maybe because of my 'shade and shadow studies for interiors' Also I think I enjoyed to paint/draw it slowly without rush and the shading was more or less a meditative exercise !

It has been such a long time that I posted and an even longer time that I have painted. With all the time that I need to do my studies, there is just nooo time left at all for painting. But now the holidays are on, but I am not sure if I will get to 'real' painting.... I might just do few sketches in my sketchbook. It just takes time to get back into it ! And by that time I might be back at my studies again ;-) 

I hope everybody is well (and working more regular than I do !!!!)

What I really like about sketchbooks is, that there is no fear.... the act of drawing or painting is more a playing than a planing..... The result is then often so different than expected with new ideas coming up while playing !

Dreaming Time

I have worked the last couple of days in my sketchbook, but I am not really in the rhythm to paint, to write, to post ...... The internet makes a lot of things easier.... but on the same time makes also a lot of work ! I don't know how a lot of you do it ....
Sometimes I have the impression that the action around the painting ( taking a photo, resizing etc etc etc...) is more work than the actual painting :))

 Anyway, this painting is about  what I do at night :) I go and visit my old life !

Element Fire

One more painting from last week, and I am aware now, that I will also have to paint element earth and element air now :) It seems after a long time not painting I find it easiest just to paint faces ... before a theme really evolves. But the coming week I will concentrate on my sketchbooks again to loosen up a bit ! I don't like when my paintings become stiff and somehow dead. The best medicine for that is to work with collages in my case or trying to "fill up a sketchbook the day" ;-)
Also I gave a little interview at Red Bubble the other day if you are interested. Amazing how few things get clear when you write about them ...

Back to painting !!!

 It has been a very long time since I posted here something .... and it has been a very long time since I painted ! But as always : I am back :)

To come back to my working space, to open my boxes with my colours and tints... the smell of the coffee I paint with... gives me such a wonderful feeling....even I don't know what to start painting !
So it was good, that I had this Melbourne painting still there, that I had to finish. And we will see what the next couple of days will bring :)

I have started my studies again but still hope, that I will be able to paint  a little bit ( I think I had the same hope for last semester :)) 

I might just do some small works, that will be at the end part of one big frame ( like "Discovering Melbourne's secrets") And this one will be also about Melbourne... and one of the first things I think about when thinking about Melbourne ....are the possums :)
